The challenge is also random generated from gameplay to gameplay so not even guides or YouTube could help me out on the stupid Monkey Kombat. I just don't have the patience because it's not even a fun mini-game / challenge but incredibly dull, boring, annoying, frustrating & rage inducing. I just can't beat the damn Monkey boss in Monkey Kombat. I have written down 7 sticky notes and to no avail in logic. I didn't finish the game due to spending my entire day off on 1 very difficult challenge called "Monkey Kombat". It also crashed 3x on me on the first act when I left the harbour & went back in immediately ( not by my choice but by the bad controls ). And if someone wanted to watch my gameplay live it crashed immediately. Steam functions don't work from screen-shots to chat. I can't seem to tweak the resolution higher or make the windowed mode to work without some outside programs that I refuse to install. I had to switch between certain functions on both my keyboard and Xbox-one controller to get by without a headache. Clunky controls & really bad camera angles. Most puzzles were really nice.ĬONS: Lack of hint system is a disaster.
Characters & story are as great as always with the Monkey Island series.
PROS: Visuals and humour are one of the best in the series! Soundtrack is really neat.
To give credit where credit is due, I initially fixed the initialization issue thanks to the thread created by DarkSith1 on this forum, but in my searching I found command line settings you could include that will allow you to not only launch the game without selecting the launcher in the installation folder, but also run it in windowed mode, which is extremely usefull if you want to tab out or stream it, as when it's full screen it proves difficult to get it out of focus.I don't plan to finish the game but I will review it anyway:
Windowed mode/Could not initialize your hardware (for the record, the way I found this out was I looked at the video files within the game's installation folder, and googled the file extension (m4b).) I'm a big fan of Escape from Monkey Island and was planning on streaming it today, but found that the lack of cutscenes or windowed mode made it extremely difficult. I just wanted to share my findings as I hadn't seen anyone post anything yet.
